Liudmyla Monastyrska was once again cast as Turandot.. and she knows how to get by in this monstrous role with lots of piani in "In questa reggia", economy and vocal caution. The extreme high notes sounded free… Monastyrska is and remains an impressive interpreter of the title role because she shows her vocal color exactly where it counts and is also completely convincing in Philipp Stölzl's visually powerful, surreal production.
